West Yorkshire primary schools come together for benchball tournament
Students from five West Yorkshire primary schools came together recently for an exciting benchball tournament, marking the first of many inter-school events planned for the year.
The tournament, which took place at Co-op Academy Leeds, was designed to foster competition and cooperation and saw 72 pupils from Co-op Academy Oakwood, Woodlands, Nightingale, Brownhill, and Smithies Moor take part.
The events provided students the chance to try a sport not typically offered in primary schools, while reinforcing our core Ways of Being.
The results for both days of events were very close. However, Oakwood emerged victorious in both age groups, with Nightingale securing silver and Smithies Moor taking home bronze.
Regional Sports Coordinator, Lauren Broadley, said: "The games were very competitive with all of the students showing great skills and teamwork. The scores were very close with finishing positions coming down to the last game of the day.
"All of the participants were fantastic and enjoyed meeting new peers and competing in a fun and supportive atmosphere.
"This event has set the stage for more exciting events to come throughout the year."
