Community Iftars bring academies together this Ramadan

During Ramadan, many of our academies hosted special community Iftar events, bringing together families, pupils and staff to share a meal and mark the breaking of the fast.
From shared meals to student-led prayers, each gathering brought a real sense of togetherness, reflecting the spirit of Ramadan and the values we hold across our Trust. And of course, there was plenty of delicious food to enjoy too!
At Co-op Academy Woodlands, their community Iftar began with Quran recitations from pupils Najwa and Algali, followed by a heartfelt call to prayer from Kia. Families shared food and donations were collected for Islamic Relief. Event organiser Mrs. Akhtar thanked everyone for their generosity and support, while Headteacher Adele Clark said the event showed just how caring and connected the school community is.
Over at Co-op Academy Penny Oaks, parents, pupils and staff gathered to break their fast together, with prayers and reflections shared throughout the evening. Leftover food was kindly donated to local families and a nearby business supporting the homeless and the school also raised almost £120 for Islamic Relief.
Co-op Academy Princeville welcomed more than 250 guests to their Iftar on 26 March. It was a hugely successful evening with pupils performing readings and nasheeds (Islamic songs), and everyone enjoying a delicious shared meal. The event was supported by donations from local businesses.
Connell Co-op College also hosted its first Iftar earlier in the month. Around 60 students and staff attended, with Year 13 pupils leading prayers, readings from the Quran and speeches about reflection and community. Principal Emma Soper praised the students for taking the lead and making the event so special, saying she hopes it becomes an annual tradition.
At Co-op Academy Belle Vue, more than 400 staff, students and family members came together at what was the largest Iftar event in the Trust this Ramadan. The event was a huge success with lots of families saying how much the event meant to them.
