Former Co-op Academy student thrives in Co-op Legal Services

We’re always proud to celebrate the journeys of our students, especially when they continue to embody our Ways of Being Co-op long after they leave the classroom.

Belmiro Nascimento, a former student at Co-op Academy Stoke-on-Trent, left the Academy in 2018 and is now building a thriving career as a Case Manager with Co-op Legal Services.

After finishing school, Belmiro went on to study law at Manchester Metropolitan University, where he developed skills that have helped shape his professional career.
When former Headteacher and now Regional Director, Nick Lowry, recently caught up with Belmiro at 1 Angel Square, Co-op’s head office, he was proud to see one of his former students making such a positive impact.

A photo of Belmiro from his school days is even displayed in the entrance of the building, celebrating the connection between Co-op students and the wider Co-op community.

Nick Lowry, Regional Director and former Headteacher at Co-op Academy Stoke-on-Trent, said: "Belmiro was a model student. Hardworking, diligent and someone who always gave his best. It was a real pleasure to bump into him unexpectedly at Angel Square. Seeing him now, thriving in his career at Co-op was a proud moment.

“What made the encounter even more special was the photograph of Belmiro from his school days, which has been displayed at Angel Square for years. To see that image alongside the man he's become really brought home the impact a Co-op education can have.”
