Ten Co-op Academies chosen as Co-op Local Causes for 2025–26!

From sensory gardens to community fridges, ten Co-op Academies have been selected as official Co-op Local Causes, giving families, staff and neighbours the chance to make a difference simply by shopping.
Ten Co-op Academies across the North of England have been chosen as this year’s Co-op Local Causes. Each will receive at least £1,000 in funding and could earn more with the support of Co-op members who choose their cause in the Co-op App.
The Local Causes programme helps schools, charities and community groups bring local projects to life. This year’s successful academy causes range from outdoor play spaces and sensory gardens to community fridges and family support groups, all focused on fairness, wellbeing and connection.

Every time a Co-op member shops and scans their membership card, they can vote for one of three local causes in their area. The more people who choose a Co-op Academy, the greater the share of community funds that academy receives.
“Each of these projects reflects what makes our academies special. They bring people together, support families and help pupils thrive. We’d love everyone in our communities to get involved and choose their local academy as their Co-op cause.”
The 10 academies are Co-op Academies:
- Broadhurst
- Clarice Cliff
- Hillside
- Leeds
- Oakwood
- Portland
- Stoke-on-Trent
- Swinton
- Walkden
- Woodslee
You can help by downloading the Co-op App, heading to ‘Membership’ → ‘Choose a local cause’, and selecting your local Co-op Academy. Every vote and every shop helps your school community grow.
