Co-op and Sure’s host inspiring Euro 2025 football tournament

To celebrate the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 competition, Co-op and Sure teamed up to host an exciting, Trust-wide girls' football tournament.

The 5-a-side event at Co-op Academy Failsworth brought together more than 90 students from nine Co-op Academies, all taking part in a round-robin competition filled with energy and encouragement.

The tournament on July 16th was delivered as part of Sure’s Breaking Limits programme, which empowers young people to overcome barriers and build confidence through movement and sport.

As the first pan-Trust girls' football tournament, the event helped promote inclusivity and teamwork whilst creating opportunities for all students to thrive, celebrating the growing impact of women’s football.

After a series of close matches, Co-op Academy Parkland emerged as champions, topping the table with impressive performances on the pitch. Every participant received a medal and football, generously provided by Sure, as recognition of their effort and enthusiasm.

Callum Rodney, Customer Account Manager at Unilever, said: “Partnering with Co-op and Co-op Academies Trust ahead of the 2025 Women’s Euros, Sure aimed to create a fun and inclusive environment where students could be inspired by the power of women’s football.

“This pan-Trust tournament, the first of its kind, was about more than sport. It celebrated diversity and encouraged confidence, teamwork and resilience.

“Movement has the power to break down barriers, both personal and social, and Sure has always championed that belief. It was a real privilege to bring the Breaking Limits Programme to life with Co-op Academies Trust this summer.”
